Dickey Betts and Sandy Blue Sky sitting in their New Orleans hotel room, Saturday July 22, 1972. On the night before this picture was taken, the NOPD pushed their way into Dickey’s hotel room, hoping to find illegal drugs. These were plain clothes cops. Dickey, not realizing they were police, put up a fight only for it to end with a billy club to the face, creating the cut under his left eye. We drank wine together the next night, and discussed Dickey and Gregg showing up at a free concert in the park the following day.  (page 139)
